Chrislion International Logistics Co., Ltd. is pleased to provide our clients with the latest European Inland Restitution (Drop-off Charge) tariff issued by COSCO SHIPPING Lines Co., Ltd. for empty container returns under merchant haulage.
This tariff applies to dry containers (20GP, 40GP, 40HC) for base-port B/L shipments from China to Europe. It covers returns to COSCO-contracted inland depots in various European countries.
1. Germany (DE)
Augsburg (AUG) / Düsseldorf (DUS) / Hof (Saale) (HOQ) / Schweinfurt (SCW) / Trier (YYY): Empty return is currently NOT possible for all container sizes (NIL).
Bonn (BON): 20GP: EUR 0.00 | 40GP: NIL | 40HC: EUR 75.00.
Bremen (BRE): * When POD is not DEBRV: 20GP: EUR 50.00 | 40GP: NIL | 40HC: EUR 30.00.
When POD is DEBRV: 20GP: EUR 0.00 | 40GP: NIL | 40HC: EUR 30.00.
Bremerhaven (BRV): When POD is not DEBRV: 20GP: EUR 30.00 | 40GP: EUR 55.00 | 40HC: EUR 0.00.
Dortmund (DTM): 20GP: EUR 100.00 | 40GP: NIL | 40HC: EUR 410.00.
Duisburg (DUI) / Frankfurt am Main (FRA) / Köln (CGN) / Ludwigshafen (LUH) / Mainz (MAI) / Mannheim (MHG) / Neuss (NSS) / Stuttgart (STR): 20GP is free (EUR 0.00), but 40HC incurs charges ranging from EUR 100.00 to EUR 350.00.
Hamburg (HAM): When POD is not DEHAM: 20GP: EUR 0.00 | 40GP: EUR 30.00 | 40HC: EUR 0.00.
Regensburg (REG): 20GP: EUR 340.00 | 40GP: NIL | 40HC: EUR 500.00.
2. Poland (PL)
⚠️ Important Note for Poland: All inland depots in Poland are subject to special demands and situations. Customers must verify availability with the local office in advance.
Gdansk (GDN): When POD is not PLGDN: 20GP: NIL | 40GP: NIL | 40HC: EUR 150.00.
Gadki (GDK): 20GP: EUR 0.00 | 40GP: EUR 490.00 | 40HC: EUR 210.00.
Other locations (Wroclaw, Warsaw, Poznan, etc.): Standard flat rates of EUR 175.00 apply to most equipment sizes, with minor exceptions (e.g., Strykow 20GP at EUR 200.00).
3. Austria (AT) & Switzerland (CH)
Enns (ENS) & Linz (LNZ): Free drop-off for all sizes (EUR 0.00).
Vienna (VIE): 20GP: EUR 125.00 | 40GP: EUR 280.00 | 40HC: EUR 330.00.
Zurich Niederglatt (NTT): 20GP: EUR 400.00 | 40GP: NIL | 40HC: EUR 300.00.
4. Czech Republic (CZ), Hungary (HU), Slovakia (SK)
Prague (PRG): 20GP: EUR 75.00 | 40GP: EUR 320.00 | 40HC: EUR 200.00.
Budapest (BUD): 20GP: EUR 180.00 | 40GP: EUR 450.00 | 40HC: EUR 400.00.
Dunajska Streda (DIS): 20GP: EUR 75.00 | 40GP: EUR 300.00 | 40HC: EUR 150.00.
5. France (FR)
Bordeaux (BOD): Free drop-off for all sizes (EUR 0.00).
Le Havre (LEH): When POD is not FRLEH: Return is NOT possible (NIL).
Lyon (LIO): 20GP: EUR 0.00 | 40GP: EUR 350.00 | 40HC: EUR 350.00.
Please check with the France office in advance for depots marked with an asterisk (*) such as Toulouse or Chalon.
6. Belgium (BE) & Netherlands (NL)
Antwerp-Doel zone (ANR/DOE): When POD is not BEANR: EUR 30.00 for all sizes.
Rotterdam (RTM): When POD is not NLRTM: EUR 150.00 for all sizes.
Netherlands Inland (Most locations): Most inland depots (e.g., Tilburg, Venlo, Zaandam) are currently marked as NIL (Not possible to return empty FAK till further notice).
7. Spain (ES) & Portugal (PT)
Portugal (Leixoes, Lisbon, Porto): All sizes are currently NIL.
Madrid (MAD): 20GP: EUR 50.00 | 40GP: EUR 150.00 | 40HC: EUR 100.00.
Canary Islands & Others (Las Palmas, Tenerife, Arrecife, etc.): Drop-off charges apply, up to EUR 560.00 for 40HC in Arrecife.
8. Italy (IT)
Empty drop-off conditions for all Italian depots (including Milano, Genova, La Spezia, etc.) are handled on a case-by-case basis. Rates and approvals are subject to local situations and must be verified directly with the local office or Europe ECD.
Important Terms & Official Regulations
Written Confirmation Required: All requests for empty restitutions must be submitted to COSCO SHIPPING Europe GmbH in time and confirmed in writing for each individual case.
Facility Designation: The final actual facility address (e.g., HAM11 or HAM08 in Hamburg) will be designated by the local destination office based on the updated yard situation.
Rate Adjustments: COSCO SHIPPING Lines reserves the right to adjust these rates for certain places with a one-month notice prior to the vessel's ETA date.
Payment Method: Drop-off charges are generally collected at the destination. If you require prepaid payment at the port of loading (POL) during booking, it must be approved by SHA HQ and manifested under the charge code EID. Please note that prepaid EID is non-refundable if you fail to drop off the container at the designated depot.
